Put a bit of salt on it.
It should look like a paste.
Put the crushed basil in a small, clean, sealed jar with a lid.
Put some sugar in the jar and pour it into the lid.
Seal the lid, and use the jar to make your next batch of peppermint sauce.
Add your peppers, tomatoes, basil, and sugar to the jar, and let them sit for about 10 minutes.
